The Monroe Community Affairs Department manages Chennault Park Golf Course on behalf of the City of Monroe, LA. The course was opened in 1975 and has been known as the premier public course for many years. However, the course has aged considerably in recent years. Mayor Jamie Mayo, the Monroe City Council, and the Monroe administration pledged to reinvest in the City’s once-great golf course a couple of years ago. During the fall of 2009, a $500,000 investment was made in the golf course and pro shop.
For a long, harsh winter, it remained closed until April 1, 2010. However, now the course opens with nine new sand bunkers, new greens, tees, and a state-of-the-art practice area.
Mayor Mayo and his staff have demonstrated their dedication to helping this course reach its full potential by allocating more funds for Phase 2 of the program, which will begin in spring 2012.
There is a dedicated staff working hard to make this golf course one of the best in the country. In addition to offering 18 holes, Chennault Park Golf Course is located just off of I-20 and about five minutes away from Monroe Regional Airport. The Chennault Park Golf Course in Monroe is one of the city’s top rated daily fee courses. Both quality and service are of the highest standards.
One of the top ten courses in Louisiana, Chennault Park Golf Course provides a unique golf experience surrounded by a beautiful setting. It has won Golf Digest’s top rating as one of the top ten courses in Louisiana. In 2010, it was reconstructed and crafted to provide excellent turf conditions all year round. However, what makes Chennault Park Golf Course stand out from other golf courses is their dedication to providing high-quality service.
They provide multiple tee options for golfers of all skill levels on this challenging, yet fair par 72 course. Although the front nine features natural fairways, the back nine features tight, tree-lined fairways.
